In what emerged as the defining message of the recent training exercise, NCAA Contact Staff were strongly advised to protect sensitive organisational information and uphold confidentiality in all professional dealings.

Facilitator of the programme, Mr. Sam Adurogboye, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SAPTCO Public Relations, made the call during the Authority’s nationwide Public Relations Pep Talk sessions. He warned that the leakage of confidential information posed a serious risk to institutional credibility, operational safety, and national aviation security.

Adurogboye proposed that all outsourced personnel, including those from handling companies and the Nigerian Legion—should take an oath of secrecy to reinforce trust within the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority.

According to him, the growing interface between internal staff, contractors, and third-party providers makes confidentiality training essential to maintaining public confidence in the Authority.

The sensitisation programme, themed “Character and Relationship for Maximum Productivity,” was held across the NCAA’s regional offices in Port Harcourt, Kaduna, and Kano. It forms part of a broader management initiative to strengthen workplace discipline, reinforce ethics, and improve staff engagement at all levels.

Participants said the message on secrecy, integrity, and professionalism resonated deeply. The NCAA Contact staff noted that in an age of social media and digital communication, unauthorised disclosures could easily damage institutional reputation or compromise regulatory operations.

Adurogboye reminded participants that NCAA Contact Staff, who serve as the Authority’s first point of interaction with the public, are also its most visible ambassadors.

He stressed that their appearance, tone, and conduct directly influence public perception of the NCAA’s leadership and efficiency.

The interactive training sessions featured PowerPoint presentations and open discussions designed to enhance understanding and encourage contributions from attendees. Core focus areas included professionalism, teamwork, punctuality, courtesy, and respect for colleagues and visitors.

NCAA Contact Staff were also trained on proper reception etiquette, knowledge of the NCAA’s mission and vision, and the importance of aligning personal behaviour with the Authority’s core values of honesty, respect, and responsibility.

The initiative, first introduced at the NCAA Headquarters in Abuja and the Lagos Regional Office, was approved for nationwide expansion by the current management under the leadership of Director General Captain Chris Najomo.

The decision reflects management’s commitment to capacity building and behavioural reorientation as critical tools for organisational improvement.

Beyond communication skills, Adurogboye urged NCAA contact staff to discourage harmful workplace habits such as truancy, lateness, and misuse of information channels. He emphasised that protecting official data is not just an ethical responsibility but a legal and operational requirement in the aviation sector.

The participants expressed appreciation to Captain Najomo and the management for extending the training to regional offices. They also thanked the Authority for the recent upward review of salaries and welfare packages, describing the gesture as motivating and confidence-building.

However, they appealed for the regular organisation of similar workshops to sustain productivity gains and improve knowledge retention. They also called for the recruitment of more hands to ease workload pressure across departments and enhance operational efficiency.

In their feedback, NCAA Contact Staff requested that the pep talk be extended to all NCAA staff, given its practical relevance to corporate performance. They also advocated the adoption of digital security systems to complement internal control measures and safeguard personnel and assets.

Mr. Adurogboye concluded that the renewed focus on secrecy, ethics, and discipline demonstrates the NCAA’s resolve to build a reliable, trusted, and professional workforce. He said the pep talk has evolved beyond a motivational exercise into a necessary process of strengthening the Authority’s moral and institutional backbone.

By emphasising confidentiality over celebration, the NCAA management is redefining workplace culture: ensuring that every NCAA Contact Staff becomes both a guardian of information and a steward of public trust.
