The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed the unruly behavior of Nigerian musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, during a ValueJet flight boarding process in Abuja.
The incident occurred on Monday, August 5, 2025, at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. It led to disruptions that resulted in the suspension of two ValueJet pilots by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).

FAAN: Security Rules Were Flouted

According to FAAN, preliminary findings reveal that the passenger, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, attempted to carry an unidentified liquid substance on board despite repeated instructions from Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel and the aircraft’s Flight Captain.
The musician was scheduled to travel on ValueJet Flight VK 201 to Lagos. During the boarding process, he was informed that carrying liquids over 100ml without proper declaration contravened both Nigeria’s National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP) and ICAO Annex 17 regulations.
Despite being cautioned, the passenger refused to comply.

Alcohol Spilled on Airline Officer

As the situation escalated, an airline security officer asked the passenger to step aside for clarification. FAAN reported that the musician resisted, spilling the liquid—confirmed to be alcohol—on the AVSEC officer.
When the Captain intervened to de-escalate the situation, she encountered the same resistance. Once boarding was completed, she instructed the aircraft door be shut.
The musician allegedly moved to the aircraft’s front and refused to vacate the area, delaying the flight further. AVSEC’s crime unit later escorted him off the plane for questioning. This act confirmed that he exhibited unruly behavior.

FAAN, NCAA Respond Swiftly

In response, FAAN has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on security violations, noting that investigations are ongoing. NCAA has since suspended the two ValueJet pilots, Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and her co-pilot. First Officer Ivan Olobaboth, pending a full review of their roles in the incident.

FAAN stated clearly:

“The Authority will not tolerate any actions that compromise operational integrity or undermine aviation safety standards, regardless of the individuals involved.”

Safety Above All Else

This case underscores the importance of strict compliance with aviation safety regulations, particularly regarding prohibited items like liquids exceeding 100ml.
The unruly behavior of Nigerian musician K1 De Ultimate serves as a reminder that all passengers, regardless of status, must adhere to established protocols.

Unruly Behavior Rampart

The unruly behavior of Nigerian musician K1 is not an isolated case—it reflects a disturbing pattern emerging across Nigeria’s aviation landscape.
Increasingly, both airlines and airport authorities are confronting incidents where passengers disregard rules, challenge officials, or behave aggressively during boarding and in-flight operations.
What was once rare is now becoming more frequent, raising red flags within the aviation security community.
From verbal altercations to physical confrontations, aviation workers are now more exposed to volatile situations, often triggered by entitled behavior or ignorance of safety protocols.
The unruly behavior of Nigerian musician in this recent case adds to growing concerns about how airport personnel can be better protected and empowered to manage difficult passengers.
If unchecked, this trend could erode operational discipline and compromise passenger safety nationwide.
