The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) aims to leverage Vaisala and MFI expertise for operational improvement.

The agency made this known while hosting a team from Vaisala and Meteo France International.

Director General NiMet, Prof. Charles Anosike, said the three-day visit marked a boost in international collaboration efforts.

The team from Vaisala included James Gadiner, Kimmo Ristolainen, and Vesa Koivula, along with Alexandre Bonnes from MFI.

Earlier, in June 2024, NiMet officials met with Vaisala and MFI at the WMO Executive Council’s 78th session in Geneva.

Professor Anosike said the visit aimed to assess infrastructure gaps and implement integrated solutions for service delivery.

“NiMet will leverage Vaisala and MFI expertise to close observation gaps, focusing on radar solutions and aviation AWOS systems,” he noted.

He praised NiMet’s staff for their dedication and emphasized management’s commitment to enhancing work environments for better service.

The visiting team toured NiMet’s facilities in Abuja, interacting with operational officers from various technical directorates.
