He notes varying weather, from light to severe dust haze and morning fog, impacting visibility below aerodrome operating minima.
Nuhu urges the public, “Take necessary precautions in trip planning to avoid unnecessary flight delays.”
Nuhu’s statement details the effects of the weather on flights, including, “Air-to-ground visibility reduction due to fog.”
Nuhu warns, “In severe conditions, dust haze can make visual navigation extremely difficult or impossible.”
He asserts that terminal visibility falling below prescribed minima may cause delays, diversions, or cancellations of flights.
“All pilots, operators, and ATCs must adhere to safety requirements,” including airspace closure when visibility falls below prescribed minima.
Nuhu stresses, “Pilots must obtain adequate weather information and exercise maximum restraint in adverse weather.”
Operators must “put measures in place to cushion the effects of delay or cancellations on passengers.”
The NCAA urges passengers to “exercise patience and understanding” during this crucial period for their safety.
