United Nigeria Airlines AOC ready as other new entrants set to get approvals

UNITED Nigeria Airlines is set to commence operations as it has been confirmed that the airline’s Air operators Certificate (AOC) a document issued by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to show approval for commencing commercial services in the Nigerian airspace is ready.

This is just as other airlines seeking approval to commence operations are hot in the race to get certified to take to the skies.

Nigerianflightdeck learnt that the Enugu-based airline got the nod to commence operation after it met the regulatory body’s requirement and was handed an AOC with number UNA/AOC/01-21/961 which is valid till January 31, 2023.

The document which was issued 1st February 2021 and signed by the Director General NCAA read,” This certificate certifies that United Nigeria Airlines Company Limited has been approved to perform commercial air operations, as defined in the attached operations.

Recall that in January, United Nigeria Airlines carried out demonstration flights to show readiness to operate from Lagos to Enugu, Owerri and some other airports with its Embraer E145s.

According to fillers substantiated by the airline’s website, it will operate domestic flights from     Enugu-Abuja-Enugu,   Owerri-Abuja-Owerri, Enugu-Lagos-Enugu, Owerri-Lagos-Owerri,   Abuja-Asaba-Abuja, Port Harcourt-Lagos-Port Harcourt, Port Harcourt-Abuja-Port Harcourt United Nigeria is not the only airline launching despite the pandemonium in the industry caused by COVID-19, other Nigerian airlines like Green Africa and Cally Air have also scaled various rungs of the certification ladder and may be well on their way to obtain the CAA’s AOC to qualify them for commercial operations.

Nigerianflightdeck authoritatively learnt that Green Africa Airways is on Phase four of its AOC procurement.
