RUNWAYAviation Club Ghana has joined the International Civil of Aviation Organizations (ICAO) Next Generation of Aviation Professionals (NGAP) program.
The NGAP program which is of interest to many aviation stakeholders including : airlines, air navigation service providers, airports, ground support services, manufacturers, training providers, universities, and others aims at attracting and educating the next generation of aviation professionals and also involves working with national and international education and labour stakeholders.
RAC founder Okyere Obed said at the announcement ,“This is a great step forward for our volunteer group and a perfect fit for both us and NGAP. I am looking forward to working closely with NGAP to create new career pathways for our members into the aviation industry”
The international aviation community recognized that there will be a shortage of skilled aviation professionals in the near future. In order to address this issue, ICAO launched the NGAP initiative to ensure that enough qualified and competent aviation professionals are available to operate, manage and maintain the future international air transport system.
The NGAP Programme is be supported by a consortium of partner organizations who have identified specific NGAP issues that should be addressed and who are willing to commit resources to support NGAP initiatives. ICAO is currently working with stakeholders to develop an Operational Plan for the NGAP Programme.
Specific objectives for the NGAP Programme Working Groups have been developed and will continue to be updated as work progresses and will be incorporated into the NGAP Programme Operational Plan.
Runway Aviation Club based in Ghana was born in 2014 from an idea by Okyere Gyamena Obed who wanted to create a gateway for young Ghanaians into the aviation industry, to provide a platform for its members which would assist them find a career in aviation, to educate the members on available routes into the industry, to encourage the members to self-educate where possible and to approach the Ghanaian aviation industry to investigate future opportunities for members to start careers across all sectors of the industry, including the airlines, business aviation, trip support, ground operations, ATC, regulation, MRO, aircraft finance and leasing.
