Qatar Airways GCEO Takes Key Roles in IATA, AACO


Qatar Airways Group CEO, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer secures a position as a Member of the Board of Governors at the International Air Transport Association. Additionally, he joins the Executive Committee of the Arab Air Carriers’ Organization.

IATA is the trade association for the world’s airlines, representing some 320 airlines or 83% of total air traffic. IATA advocates for global airlines, aiming to represent, lead, and serve the industry’s interests worldwide.


Engr. Badr Al-Meer supports shaping safe, secure, and sustainable air transport as a member of AACO’s Executive Committee.With his appointment to the Executive Committee of the Arab Air Carriers’ Organization (AACO), Engr. Badr Al-Meer leverages his robust experience in the aviation sector.

AACO is the regional association of the Arab Airlines representing 34 carriers. AACO promotes cooperation among its members in aero-political affairs, environmental sustainability, and training through its regional center.

Engr. Badr Al-Meer leverages his aviation experience to aid AACO in cooperating with regional and international organizations.

Engr. Badr Al-Meer became GCEO of Qatar Airways on 5 November 2023 following over a decade as the COO of Hamad International Airport.

Leading HIA, Qatar’s global airport, Badr Al-Meer played a key role in major projects like “The Orchard” expansion. The challenging Doha extension finished before FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022â„¢. From 2018-2020, as a Board Director at Airports Council International, Al-Meer influenced Future Airport Development and Sustainability.
