THE Director General /CEO NiMet, Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu has linked the performance of any organization to the competencies of its employees.

He disclosed this while declaring open a one-day retreat in Abuja, organized for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Unit staff of the Agency with the theme The 21st Century Data Centre: Steps to increasing Efficiency and Availability.

” The performance of any organization is directly linked to the capacity and competencies of its employees which are directly linked to the quality and quantity of training they are exposed”. He said.

While reiterating his management’s commitment to training of staff, Prof. Matazu disclosed that since he assumed office in March 2021, his management has tried within the limited resources available to conduct as many trainings as possible cutting across every directorate of the Agency.

On the essence of the training, Prof. Matazu observed that no organization in this current age and time can survive without the application of technology hence he described the timing as apt.

He therefore noted that for sustaining the current visibility and relevance of operations and services the Agency has attained, the efficacy of NiMet’s ICT in terms of personnel and infrastructure is pivotal, adding that this retreat is part of the repositioning of the ICT Unit.

Prof. Matazu then charged the ICT Unit to come up with a clear roadmap and chart a new course that will reposition the ICT Unit to its rightful place not just as a driver for operations in NiMet but also serve as solution provider, servicing every other Unit and Departments of the Agency.
