The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) and the Nigerian Navy have signed an MoU to enhance maritime safety measures. This strategic partnership establishes a framework for cooperation in accident prevention, research, and capacity building efforts. Captain Alex Badeh Jr. stated that the MoU will greatly enhance maritime safety measures by leveraging the combined expertise of both institutions. “The Nigerian Navy’s expertise and resources in search and rescue operations, diving, and maritime security will greatly complement the Bureau’s investigative capacity. Together, we are committed to preventing future accidents, improving safety, and safeguarding lives within Nigeria’s waters.”
Similarly, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu praised the collaboration, affirming the Navy’s readiness to support timely and effective investigations. Beyond immediate maritime safety, this partnership aligns with Nigeria’s broader transportation safety goals, covering the air, rail, and maritime sectors.
