NIGERIAN Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has reinstated the Ministerial Approval of Emirates airlines winter schedule barely a day after insisting it would do so if the nation is treated equally and fairly

The CAA in a letter dated today, December 21, 2021, signed by the Director General of NCAA, Captain Misa Nuhu  and copied Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika and DG of General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) in UAE and addressed to the country manager of Emirates airline, stated that the approval was given in the wake of consultations with stakeholders and the letter gotten from Dubai Civil Aviation Authority with reference number DCAA/ASA/N-3.016 dated 17 December, 2021 offering Air Peace airline daily slots at Dubai Airport.

The letter reads: ”Following further consultations with various stakeholders and the letter from Dubai  Civil Aviation Authority with reference number DCAA/ASA/N-3.016 dated 17 December, 2021 offering Air Peace airline daily slots at Dubai Airport, I wish to inform you of the reinstatement of the ministerial approval of Emirates Airline Winter schedule.

”This approval is predicated on the compliance with the Dubai Travel Protocol  as released by Dubai airport on Friday 26 November, 2021 as it affects passengers travelling from Nigeria to UAE. Please be guided accordingly”.,  the letter added.

Recall during the heightened tension, the United Arab Emirates ( CAA) had sent a letter to Air Peace granting them permission and seven (7) slots to fly into the Dubai after refusing the airline three (3) slots into Sharjah, which was the initial cause of the brouhaha.

The NCAA had hinted that the Ministry of foreign affairs was in the process of verifying the letter sent to Air Peace before any action could be taken but had promised through its director general that once confirmation is done they will reach a decision.
