NCAA Hosts Aviation Industry Stakeholders, Financial Experts at One-day Conference in Abuja

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) is organizing a one-day conference on economic viability in aviation. This important event will take place tomorrow, October 23, 2024, at the Abuja Continental Hotel by 9:00 AM. With the theme, “Building a Viable Aviation Industry for National Economic Growth,” the conference promises key discussions. Notably, financial and industry experts will explore sustainable ways to fund the aviation sector in Nigeria. They will also address the cost of airline operations and how operators can access necessary credit facilities.

Keynote speaker Innocent C. Ike, Group Managing Director/CEO of Polaris Bank Limited, will share insights on “Building a Viable Aviation Industry for National Economic Growth and Development: Funding Imperatives.” Since taking over Polaris Bank in 2020, he has led significant transformation efforts. Ike will discuss how the aviation industry can leverage these approaches for growth. Furthermore, aviation security expert Mr. Olusheyi Ogunleye will speak on enhancing aviation safety and security through effective regulatory oversight. He brings over 28 years of experience from working with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Additionally, Professor Barisua Fortune Nwinee will present on building a sustainable civil aviation sector. His experience in finance and economic reforms will contribute valuable insights on increasing national income through aviation. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority welcomes stakeholders, including airline operators, suppliers, and aviation agencies, to join this critical conversation. The federal government’s efforts through the Cape Town Convention will also be highlighted, focusing on accessing global credit for the aviation industry.
