THE proposed strike scheduled for September 18, 2017 may have hit another snag following the withdrawal of unions in the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and today the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) ..
The National president of NAAPE, comrade Galadima Abednego who gave NAAPE’s position in a statement today said that the union decided against the industrial action.
The statement obtained by Nigerianflightdeck.com from NAAPE’s Public Relations Officer, Engineer Frank Igwe read,”After careful consideration of the situation of strike called by United Labour congress (ULC) by the relevant organs of our Union and the review of fragile status of our airlines, it was resolved that we withdraw our earlier plan to participate in the strike in the interest of the industry and the air traveling public.”
“By this all our members are enjoined to go about their normal duties on Monday and all earlier correspondences connected to the strike written to the NCAA and other bodies are to be disregarded.”
Recall, NAMA management and representatives of Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP), Aeronautical Information Services Association of Nigeria (AISAN) and the National Association of Air Traffic Engineers (NAAE), had discussed and the unions dissociated themselves from the said strike.
