Nigerianflightdeck.com has learnt that the Ministry of Aviation has queried and invited the National President of the Air Transport Senior Staff Services Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) President, Comrade Benjamin Okewu to explain the ‘improper elevation’ causing a mêlée at the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB).
This is just as the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) has said that its branch Chairman Engineer Alao and Secretary Charles Erikete are being victimized over reports of an alleged assault by the commissioner of the Bureau.
Information reaching our desk can confirm that the ATSSSAN president who was seconded to AIB on an elevated status has reported to the ministry but the outcome of that investigation is still unknown.
On the alleged victimization of the NAAPE branch officials, our reporter learnt that both chairman and secretary were handed queries after the report that they were being victimized over the whole elevation saga.
The union national leadership however said it is not unaware of the challenges of their members and is doing everything it can and should to protect its members.
“We know what is going on and we are taking steps, strategic steps to protect our members not something we will reveal but in a few days, if this degenerates further it will come to light,” he said.
Recall last week that National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) have accused the Bureau’s commissioner, Dr. Felix Abali of what they described as assault and victimization.
The whole scuffle is connected to the alleged ‘elevation’ saga of Air Transport Senior Staff Services Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) President, Benjamin Okewu and has led to a crack between management and NAAPE, AIB Branch.
Nigerianflightdeck.com reported that Chairman and Secretary of NAAPE AIB Branch, Engineer Alao and Charles Erikete were subject to the alleged victimization by the AIB boss who also allegedly physically assaulted the union’s secretary by shoving him.
Apparently, reportage of that skirmish, according to our source, seems to be the reason for the query issued the branch executives and a showdown is apparently brewing if the indications from all quarters are anything to go by.
