Med-view commences airlift of passengers, commences regular UK schedule

MED-VIEW Airlines today commenced airlift of its passengers bringing back over 300 passengers from Gatwick Airport, London despite the unfortunate accident at that airport which caused the runway to be shut down/

The airline brought back the passengers with a leased Boeing 767 around 7am this morning with plans to airlift its stranded passengers from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

According to a source the airline also intends to use the same aircraft to airlift its London bound passengers so as to clear its backlog before resuming its regular schedule.

The airline is expected to resume normal schedule today as its Boeing 747 aircraft is back in operations and would be airlifting passengers into the country today.

The source who explained the situation told Nigerianflightdeck said that it was not in the airline’s nature to keep their passengers but that documentation of the leased aircraft also stalled airlifting

Confirming the news, Medview airline in a statement on Tuesday said commenced the airlift of passengers on the Lagos-London route.

“The first batch of passengers from London Gatwick arrived the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos aboard a B767 aircraft on Tuesday at 7.30AM. The same aircraft is positioned to take passengers from Lagos to London on Tuesday night.”

“The airline’s B747 aircraft will enter service also Tuesday night with another flight from London, arriving Lagos in the early hours of Wednesday.”

The airline said it will resume its normal three weekly flights schedule on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the flights disruption on the route was compounded by the accident at Gatwick airport, which affected other airlines, and also the inability of the CAA to grant the necessary permits over the weekend for charter flights to clear the backlog of passengers

The airline said it regretted the inconveniences caused passengers by the disruptions.
