Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, emphasized the crucial role of the constructed Command and Control Centre in facilitating seamless border governance, stating it will also bolster the fight against trans-border crimes, including smuggling of migrants and Trafficking in Persons (TIPs).

DCI Kenneth Udo, Service Public Relations Officer, revealed in a statement that Nandap hosted both Ministers of Interior and Aviation, Dr. Olubumni Tunji-Ojo and Festus Keyamo, who inspected the readiness of the project.

According to Nandap, the project will reduce passenger processing time at all ports of entry and enhance intelligence and data sharing collaboration among Security Agencies for National Security.

Identifying Advance Passenger Information and Passenger Name Record (API/PNR) as vital components of the integrated border management strategy, Nandap emphasized their importance in security screening and immigration purposes.

API is information provided by passengers before travel, including passport details, nationality, and sometimes even contact information. Authorities use this information for security screening and immigration purposes. PNR is a record in the database of an airline or travel agency that contains the itinerary for a passenger or a group of passengers traveling together.

“The Public Private Partnership (PPP) drive of the Renewed Hope administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR is yielding results,” expressed the Minister of Interior, expressing joy at the progress made. He stressed that the NIS has no excuse but to deliver on its mandate while thanking the Service and NEWWORKS, the firm handling the project.

The Minister of Aviation commended the Ministry of Interior, stating that NIS has demonstrated readiness to operate in tandem with global best practices in Border Security and Migration Management.
