IN compliance with the provisions of the Executive Order of the Presidency, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), has announced that only six under-listed security agencies have been given approval to interface with passengers at the nations terminals.
According to the agency in a public notice issued, the six security agencies are: the Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS) which will only interface with passengers at Arrival and Departure only; the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) which will interface at Arrival only as well as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)which will interface with passengers at Arrival and Departure.
Other security agencies State Security Service (SSS), Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit (EOD) and the Nigeria Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) which will only interface with passengers at the Cargo Terminal.
The announcement also stipulated categorically that officials of the NIS, NCS and the NDLEA must appear in uniforms and wear detachable name tags for easy identification while the SSS’ function is for intelligence gathering and the EOD Unit will only function on call at the baggage Hall.
According to the notice, the affected agencies are enjoined to ensure strict compliance.
