A video of a mock exercise conducted in 2016 before Nigeria scaled the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Security Audit, is currently trending and being bandied as real life terrorist attack on the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos today.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) while reacting to the video trending on the social media debunked it and maintained that the Lagos International Airport, is not under terrorist or any form of attack as the peddler(s) of the video was trying to portray.

The statement from FAAN read, “The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria will like to state unequivocally that MMIA is not under any kind of attack. The video in question is that of an old simulation exercise carried out by the Nigerian Air Force in conjunction with other aviation agencies.”
“The Authority will like to advise those uploading such to desist from the act as it is not only malicious, wicked, embarrassing, but also sending the wrong signals to the world about the internal security of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Close scrutiny of the video by Nigeriaflightdeck.com revealed it was from the same mock exercise held in November 8, 2016 held by men of the Nigeria Air Force where they mimicked a live terrorist hostage situation.
The exercise that day lasted about 45minutes and caused excitement and thrill but no real terrorist activity happened as several blank shots were fired..
Even by the trending video, discerning minds would notice that there was no panic or chaos at the terminal building as people stood by to make phone recordings while security agents just moved around freely.
According to our analysis, this belies any form of attack at the terminal today especially as our correspondent was at same airport today and saw or heard of no such terrorist incident overt or covert.
Involved in the exercise that day were the Nigeria Air Force, Police, Bomb disposal unit and FAAN AVSEC.
