Delta Air Lines is set to resume daily service from New York-JFK to Lagos, Nigeria (LOS), starting December 1, 2024. This move marks an expansion in the airline’s commitment to serving the African market.
Currently, Delta operates daily service between Atlanta and Lagos. With the reinstatement of daily New York-JFK service, customers will have increased accessibility with a total of 14 weekly flights to Nigeria from December through mid-January and 10 weekly flights for the rest of winter 2024.
Joe Esposito, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning, emphasizes the airline’s dedication to meeting evolving customer needs. He states, “These enhancements reflect our commitment to providing premium service and elevated hospitality.”
Passengers on the New York-JFK to Lagos route will enjoy various cabin experiences, including Delta One, Delta Premium Select, Delta Comfort+, and Main Cabin, all offered on the Airbus A330-200. Delta One passengers can indulge in an extensive food and beverage program, while those in Delta Premium Select will benefit from spacious seating and enhanced comfort features.
Delta’s commitment to improving service extends beyond Nigeria. As the first U.S. airline to serve Ghana, Delta remains a key player in the market, offering year-round daily service from New York-JFK. In late October 2024, the airline will upgrade its aircraft to the Airbus A330-900neo, increasing capacity by nearly 1,000 seats per week and providing a 30% boost in capacity between Ghana and the U.S.
Additionally, Delta is enhancing its service to South Africa, operating 10 weekly flights to Johannesburg and Cape Town from Atlanta. The introduction of the Airbus A350-900 will bring more Delta One Suite seats and improved operational performance, benefiting passengers traveling to both destinations.
These upgrades underscore Delta’s commitment to delivering exceptional service and further solidify its position as a leading airline connecting the United States with Africa.
