Air Peace clarifies on Boeing 737 Max 8 orders, tells public it is yet to take any delivery

AIR Peace has said it is following up and monitoring developments on the 737 Max issue stating that although it has placed firm orders for 10 of the same aircraft type, it is yet to take delivery of any.

The Boeing 737-Max 8 has been under suspicion since Lion Air Flight 610 operating the Soekarno–Hatta International Airport in Jakarta to Depati Amir Airport in Pangkal Pinang route crashed into the Java Sea 12 minutes after takeoff.

This suspicion has been further heightened with Ethiopian Airline flight ET 302 B-737-800MAX with registration number ET- AVJ conveying 149 passengers and 8 crew from Addis Ababa to Nairobi has crashed around Bishoftu (Debre Zeit) crashed just 6 minutes into the flight.

This has caused an uproar all over social media with passengers and concerned Nigerians insisting that they will ask of aircraft operating routes before they purchase tickets, while other have asked the airline (Air Peace) if they are still intent on purchasing the 738 Max 8.

However, a statement from Corporate Communications Manager, Chris Iwarah addressing their fears said, “The Management of Air Peace Airline has thought it imperative to clarify that Air Peace recently placed a firm order for 10 brand new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. We are, however, yet to take delivery of the aircraft as we are still at the design and configuration stage of the order.

“This clarification has become necessary in view of numerous calls and enquiries on our response to the incidents involving the B737 Max 8 aircraft.

“Although it is premature to comment on the incidents, we wish to assure members of the flying public that we are closely following and monitoring developments on the issue as an airline that prioritizes the safety and well-being of our customers.

“While we keep engaging with our partners in this regard, we repose implicit confidence in Boeing and aviation authorities to capably and satisfactorily address all the issues if at the conclusion of ongoing investigations it is discovered that the challenge is with the B737 Max 8.
