RIFE rumours of manipulations and removal of names in the restructuring list termed ‘Right placement’  which led to  demotions and other changes at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has led Minister of State for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika to call for the comprehensive list of those recommended for sack and demotion

According to information gathered by nigerianflightdeck.com, the comprehensive list, which was made available to our correspondent by a ministry source had contained no fewer than 60 names in FAAN alone who were either recommended to be demoted or sacked as at 2015.

However, by the end of the first phase of the exercise, which was implemented in October 2016, only 22 middle and senior staff in FAAN  were affected others were untouched leading unions to start another round of agitations.

Recall that during the last stakeholders’ forum, the minister had posited that the exercise at FAAN was just the beginning as other agencies including the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) would be affected in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile the exemption of certain names on the list and the cry of the industry unions forced Sirika to call for the list during the week.

According to what our reporter gathered, the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), specifically submitted 29 names from NAMA to Sirika, which it said were wrongly employed and placed in high positions above their qualifications since 2012.

Our reporter gathered that those affected by the exercise and even the industry unions have complained about the way and manner the exercise was carried out. They believed that some names were removed from the original list by some top people in government.

“Apart from this, some of the recommendation on the demotion of staff to appropriate Grade Level was not followed. For instance, someone in the Administrative Department (names withheld) who was recommended to be demoted to GL 14 from GL16 was demoted to GL15. In fact, the person in question cannot write an ordinary memo.”

The ministry source told our correspondent that Sirika was furious with the alleged tempering of the original list and may take a decisive action against any officer found wanting in the implementation of the exercise.

Apart from FAAN, the exercise is yet to commence at the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) as the 29 names recommended for sack or demotion have not been issued
