Air Peace emphasized that the reported windshield crack on its Akure to Abuja flight was greatly exaggerated. The airline stressed that the safety of passengers and the flight was never at risk, despite misleading claims from an online medium.
A statement from management clarified that the reported windshield crack only affected the outer layer of the front window. Additionally, the cockpit crew promptly identified the issue and followed all safety protocols to ensure the flight continued securely.
The airline made it clear that this was not a panic event, as the report suggested. “We would like to state clearly that there was no such ‘panic event’ on the said flight at all. In fact, it was a smooth flight that landed safely without any abnormal or concerning events,” Air Peace stated. The management also explained, “The crack affected only the outer layer of the front window on the First Officer’s side.”
Upon landing in Abuja, Air Peace engineers immediately began replacing the cracked windshield after the pilots conducted their standard post-flight walkthrough. “Upon landing, the engineers commenced the necessary replacement of the cracked windshield to ensure continued safety. There was no development that caused any panic for passengers,” the statement reiterated.
The airline stressed that the safety of passengers was their priority, calling reports of panic false and harmful. “Negative, unfounded claims that aim to tarnish the image of the airline should be discouraged and stopped immediately”. Air Peace admonished.
