Minister Festus Keyamo has emphasized the Nigerian aviation policy direction under his leadership, focusing on strengthening the industry. Speaking at the launch of the NCAA Consumer Protection Portal, Keyamo stressed the importance of empowering local businesses.
He stated, “The government can only create an enabling environment for private businesses to thrive.” The *Nigerian aviation policy direction* aims to ensure that local businesses flourish instead of allowing external domination. This strategy aligns with the government’s focus on long-term, sustainable growth for the aviation industry.
Keyamo explained that instead of taking shortcuts, the government is addressing long-neglected industry conditions step by step. He emphasized, “We have started meeting conditions one after the other, fulfilling obligations previously ignored for over five years.”
This approach marks a significant shift in policy direction, one that prioritizes the development of local capacity and compliance with international standards. The Minister added, “We have drawn from our experience to make significant progress, especially with the Cape Town Convention.”
Regarding the NCAA Consumer Protection Portal, Keyamo stressed its role in improving the public’s travel experience.
“The travelling public deserves to know how their complaints are treated and whom to complain to directly,” he stated. The Nigerian aviation policy direction also puts the regulator under scrutiny, tracking the resolution of complaints in real time.
Keyamo added, “This portal seeks to achieve transparency by providing these crucial details for the public.” He affirmed that the portal was a critical step forward, highlighting efforts to address consumer complaints effectively.
