AVIATION industry’s popular online publication, Nigerianflightdeck.com last night bagged the Best Air Transport Social Media Platform at the 8th Nigeria Aviation Award and Presidential Dinner (NIGAV 2017).This is just as Dana Air’s duo of Collins Ginika and Chiogo Okani emerged as King and Queen of the Air Contest and Award where their first function was the donation of N100,000 to a Charity, the SOSChildren’s Villages Nigeria.
Nigerianflightdeck.com was nominated because of its role as a vibrant online publication using all forms of social media to disseminate, inform, educate not only the aviation industry but the general public.
Convened of the Awards, Mr. Fortune Idu in his welcome address explained that the event was borne out of the need to reward those who work tirelessly behind the scenes of a successful and safe Air Transport Services.
Idu said,” Every year, industry players and stakeholders look eagerly to that day where their selfless works will be recognised and applauded. The feeling is amazing and heart-warming and encourages the best in an industry where safety cannot be compromised and errors are not acceptable.”
” NIGAV is now in its eighth year as the primary independent watchdog of the industry whose programmes inspire best practice and promote industry excellence,” he added.
Publisher of Nigerianflightdeck.com, Anthony Patrick Omoh who received the award expressed happiness at the surprise nomination and conferment stating :
” When the event’s convened told me I was nominated and emerged winner, I was caught jaws-down because this was unexpected but I am grateful for this and it goes to show that someone out there is always watching and keeping tabs of whatever you do.”
The Dana Air duo of Collins Ginika and Chiogo Okani after a keenly contested competition and answering questions from the compère, Patrick Doyle, became the King and Queen of the skies.
The smartly dressed and well-spoken Dana Crew responded to questions on how to keep passengers comfortable, handle unruly and stubborn passengers as well as what it takes to be a crew member; excelled in their responses.
Other award winners include the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) as Aviation Agency of the Year, Jacky Hathiramani of Dana Air as CEO of the Year, Air Traffic Control Special Achievement for the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), NNAMDI AZikiwe International Airport (NAIA) as Most Improved International Airport of the Year and Benin Airport as the Most Improved Domestic Airport.
