N70million fraud: EFCC grants bail to suspect to nurse her baby

…husband stands as surety, brother still in detention

AS investigations into over N70million fraud at the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) continues, Nigerianflightdeck.com learned  that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has granted administrative bail to Christy Olabode with the proviso that her husband be arrested if she fails to appear before the anti-graft agency

Our reporter gathered that this move became pertinent because the suspect is nursing a newborn baby who is less than six months old.

According to information available to our reporter, the suspect whose husband is also a staff of FAAN, stood in as surety for her and has in fact written a statement making him culpable if his wife fails to show.

An EFCC source said, “We had to grant her administrative bail because the EFCC doesn’t have any facilities to take care of nursing mothers, but we told her that she would be needed from time to time as the investigation progresses,” said the EFCC source. He added, “The administrative bail doesn’t mean she’s been cleared or freed by us. The investigation is still ongoing.”

The source further revealed, “…And has in fact written a statement that if she refuses to appear, he should be arrested.”

The administrative bail is however meant for the nursing mother alone as her brother, Abdul-Shehu Obaze, also a staff at FAAN’s commercial department in Ilorin, Kwara State is still in custody.

Our EFCC source stated that Mr. Obaze has provided some useful information to the anti-graft commission on the diversion of funds in the FAAN.
