EFCC arraign NAMA MD, Abdulsalam, others for alleged money laundering, stealing

After over a month, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned the managing director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Mr. Abdulsalam Ibrahim and some top echelons of the agency over a fifteen count charge of stealing and money laundering.

They were arraigned at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi  and have been remanded in Kiri Kiri maximum prison as has been confirmed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC)

The Managing director and three other top staff have been under investigation of the anti-graft agency for over a month, after they were apprehended by the commission over alleged financial impropriety.

It is no longer news that Abdulsalam and other directors were arrested on Friday night the 12th of February, 2016 after over eight hours of interrogation by EFCC team of investigators.

Heavily armed operatives had stormed NAMA headquarters and its annex office at the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos around 11.55 am

For several hours, the operatives detained staffers of the agency and kept them incommunicado until the search was over.

According to sources, the anti-graft operatives zeroed in on the Accounts and Procurement Departments of NAMA and carted away files and sensitive financial documents

The EFCC spokesperson, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, who spoke with a newswire service confirmed the arrest but disclosed he could not go into details then because investigations were still on.

Details of the arraignment to come later
