Airlines may have started feeling the brunt of the scarcity of petroleum products as Jet A1 also known as aviation fuel is now in limited supply according to airlines in operation.

Airlines like Arik Air and Dana spoke to our reporter and the picture they painted was not one of true inspiration.

Although for Dana, the airline had envisioned the scarcity and had taken steps to last them a couple of days but the situation, if it goes beyond a couple of days, may not be appealing.

Dana Spokesman, Kingsley Ezenwa said, “Our Head of Ground Operations heard a rumour and envisioned what would happen as well as do the calculation. We have not cancelled or daily any flight yet since this fuel shortage began but we can only hold out for a couple of days and are hoping it gets better by then because if it doesn’t …”

For Arik, the limited supply of Jet A1 across the country in the last few days has greatly hampered flight operations.

The airline in a statement made available to NFD stated that, “With over a hundred flights daily, this limited supply of aviation fuel has resulted, regrettably, into flight delays and sometimes outright cancellations.”

“We appeal to our valued passengers to bear with us at this time even as we remain committed to providing safe and comfortable flight experience. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience our passengers may have suffered due to the fuel shortage.”

There have been harrowing experiences over the last few days because of petroleum products around the country and Jet A1 has not been left out of the equation
