FAAN emerges tops at safety audit at Lagos and Abuja Airports

…as NIBD lauds agency, MD


Airport Council International(ACI) have scored staff of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria  (FAAN) 93.3%  during the just concluded Aviation Security Audit which was carried out at the request of the organization.

The Managing Director of FAAN Engr. Saleh Dunoma, who spoke during an interaction with Airport Operators in Lagos said that men of the Aviation Security department have  been specially commended for exhibiting high sense of professionalism and discipline in spite of the present challenges faced as they carry out their duties.

According to him, the ACI  came on his invitation in line with the Authority’s mandate for a safe and secured airport environment.

The Airport Excellence (APEX) in safety audit on the Standards and Safety of Airport facilities was conducted at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport(MMIA),Lagos and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport,Abuja.
The 2-week audit which involved inspection of  both day and night operations was done to ensure that these airports maintain its standards according to world’s best practices.
Some of the areas reviewed include the Physical Characteristics of the airport,Visual aids,Aerodrome Manual,Safety Management System,Airport Operations,Runway Management,Airlighting amongst others.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Institute of Business Development has lauded the agency for  its collaboration in advancing the course of the institute with plans to honor  the Managing Director of FAAN, Engr. Saleh Dunoma, with the award of honorary Fellow of the institute during its International Business Development Week/Summit in July, 2015 .
On the award the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the NIBD, Mr. Paul expressed the institute’s readiness to continue to collaborate with the Authority in an effort to establish best business ethics in the country.
Engr Dunoma, while accepting the award, thanked the institute for this kind gesture and promised to sustain the good relationship FAAN has established with the institute. He expressed the hope that this partnership between the two bodies would enshrine international business best practices in the aviation industry.
